When choosing clothing, the tour guide asks the participants to take into account that in order to go to the islet, they have to go to water almost to the height of the hips.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #141313;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Heinlaid is an island with an area of 162 hectares, 5 km southeast of Heltermaa. This place was first mentioned in 1620 (<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #141313;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Hainalaidsholm<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #141313;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">). The name Heinlaid comes from the fact that the island has always been used as a pasture for animals (especially sheep or cattle) and for hay harvesting. In one year in the 18th century, 130 carts of hay were received from half of the island. The fields on the Heinlaid existed in the middle of the same century. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #141313;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">The island is mainly covered with pine trees, which began to grow at the end of the 19th century, and meadows. On rare pine meadows in Estonia, for example, meadow carnation, asparagus peas and marsh angelica grow. The bedrock consists of limestone from the Raikkula deposits. The soil layer is very thin. The edge of the coast is overgrown with reeds, the bottom is rocky, but sandy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #141313;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">According to the population register, in 2018, six people lived permanently on Heinlaid Island. On rare pine meadows in Estonia, for example, meadow carnation, asparagus peas and marsh angelica grow. The bedrock consists of limestone from the Raikkula deposits. The soil layer is very thin.
